About me...

My name is Lucy Lowes, I have been teaching yoga since 2000.
Since training to teach I have studied yoga, dance and chi kung with teachers of various disciplines. I have enjoyed learning from each discipline and taking from each what works best for me in the way that I practice and teach. I have been drawn to both the physically challenging yoga practices, and also the soft, energetic work that I have learned through working with chi kung teachers and in meditation. My classes are always a combination of both.

In addition to teaching yoga I am a Cranial Osteopath (www.theenglishosteopaths.com). My Osteopathic work with hundreds of individuals has provided me with principles/roots that give me insight into the problems with alignment I often see and also help me teach students to work with both their subtle imbalances and the more obvious ones.

My classes are a combination of challenging postures and soft, energetic awareness development. Class is an exploration through flowing sequences of both large movements e.g. back bending, hip flexibility etc. and very gentle awareness of inner movement e.g. noticing how the breath facilitates movement; noticing how placement of the hands effects the elbows, shoulders and the chest.

My classes are best described as 'dynamic Yoga' with an emphasis on creating flow whilst maintaining awareness of alignment.
